FAQ
Why drone photography?
Drone photography is becoming increasingly popular due to the unique perspective that it provides.
In Real-Estate, homes with drone photos on average sell 68% faster, and those that utilize video as well see up to 30% more views and receive roughly 403% more inquiries on the listed property. The numbers speak for themselves.
Drones have also become increasingly popular due to the ability to take pictures at higher altitudes. If you've got something far in the distance that you need photos of, there's a good chance that a Drone can be used to take that photo in a faster and safer manner. Also, multiple high altitude photos can be combined and processed to create true to scale orthomosaic maps. These maps can be used for true measurements much like satellite imaging, however, they are higher resolution due to being closer to the ground.
why hire a licensed pilot?
With the ever increasing ease of accessibility of drones there are more and more people running to their local big box store, purchasing a drone, and then immediately charging people for work. Often times this work comes at a much cheaper price, but it comes with a cost since the pilot is violating the law. This can lead to the pilot, and the customer, being fined due to violating the Code of Federal Regulations.
There are many variables to consider when conducting a drone flight. There will be times that a project may take place in Controlled, or Restricted, Airspace, or a Military Operating Area. There are times where all flights in a given area will be temporarily restricted by the FAA. All of these situations present safety risks if not handled properly and a licensed pilot has the skills and knowledge to deal with these scenarios in a safe and legal manner.
Another factor is insurance. Lets be honest real quick. Crashes are real and accidents happen. We have, to date, never crashed while on a job but there is always the possibility of a crash. A commercially licensed drone pilot is able to receive insurance for their flights so that any damages that occur due to a crash are covered.
how far in advance do i need to schedule?
This depends on the scope of work. For many jobs, we can get out same day or within the same week. However, some jobs require special clearance or flight waivers from the FAA. In those cases, it could take up to 60 days to receive FAA approval.
what about weather?
When we schedule a session we look at the weather forecast to try and determine if we will be able to fly that day, however, sometimes a forecast isn't available.
Unfortunately, just because a session is scheduled doesn't mean it is guaranteed. If conditions for the day don't permit flight, then we try to reschedule as quick as we can.
Reasons for rescheduling include, low level cloud cover below 500ft, precipitation, low visibility, high wind speeds, thunderstorms, extreme heat or cold that could cause frosting, and of course....tornadoes.
What are your turnaround times
This is a hard question to answer because it depends on the scope of work. However, we are committed to getting work done as quickly as we can, while still guaranteeing a result that you will love. Sometimes, for a small job, that is same day turnaround and other times, for larger jobs, that could be up to a week. We always do our best to work with your timetable and in the event you need priority service, we offer a rush service option that guarantees quick turnaround for an additional price.
What are your prices?
Pricing is determined per job due to travel time, flight time, editing time, etc. Please contact us for a pricing quote and we will work to create a plan that meets your needs, and your budget.
